"Hawo's Dinner Party" Video Module

"Hawo's Dinner Party" is a video module adapted from the full documentary, Welcome to Shelbyville. The module follows the story of Somali refugee immigrant, Hawo, and how she deals with anti-immigrant sentiment from long-term residents in the small town of Shelbyville, Tennessee. In partnership with Active Voice, an orgaization that addresses social justice issues through multimedia, One Voice Minnesota network members can use this module to add to the immigration discussion within their communities.

Welcoming Minnesota: A Human Rights Documentation Project

Starting in Spring 2012, One Voice Minnesota will begin a fact-finding documentation project with interested community leaders and organizers that work with immigrant communities and attorneys interested in immigration reform to take part in the project. The project aims to use that documentation as a Blueprint for a Welcoming Minnesota, to be released in early 2014, as a basis for public discussion and policy advocacy.
