Legal Services

The Advocates for Human Rights provides free legal services to asylum seekers and immigration detainees in the Upper Midwest for people who cannot afford to hire an attorney.
 
Services for Asylum Seekers: The Advocates recruits and trains volunteer attorneys, paralegals, and law students to provide free legal representation to individuals who have fled religious, ethnic, political, gender-based and other forms of persecution in their countries of origin.
 
Consultations for Detained Immigrants: Through the Minnesota Detention Project, The Advocates provides consultations and representation to immigration detainees at their initial appearances in Immigration Court.
