Austin, Minnesota is located in south central Minnesota at the junction of Interstate 90 and State Hwy 218.It is the home of Hormel Foods Corporation; both its corporate offices and flagship plant are located here.Austin is also home to The Hormel Institute.  Founded in 1942, the Institute is currently in the process of expanding to 200 researchers from all over the world.
