Support the Dream Act in 2008 (Minnesota)

Dear new Minnesotans and Allies,

It's that time of year again! The legislature begins this week as the struggle for immigrant rights continues. We encourage you to get your pen and pencil ready to write those letters to the editor as the issue of immigration starts to pick up in the news. Go ahead, give your rally signs a fresh coat of paint, we may need them on March 4 – which is this year's Student Day at the Capitol!

Over 20 college volunteers have been trained and are working with 15 high schools through our youth leadership program.  In this program, college volunteers use the Dream Curriculum to engage with youth about the root causes of immigration, they prepare to talk about the Mn Dream Act and mobilize to attend the Student Day at the Capitol on Tuesday March 4.

YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED
We are asking for your help to make this day happen.
This year we expect to see over 1,000 youth engaging with each other for social change and educating others on the issue of access to higher education for all.
We will not only talk about the need for the Mn Dream Act but also about other strategies that youth would like to work on to make education more accessible.

*DONATE--The action is expected to cost approximately $12,000.
*VOLUNTEER--A big group of volunteers are needed to make the day run smoothly.
*WRITE--Letters to the editor will be a huge help to humanize this issue.

DONATIONS
Sending one student to the Capitol on this monumental day will cost $12.
We are asking you to consider helping to sponsor a group of two, four or six students for $24, $48, or $60. Your donation will help students get food, a t-shirt, materials and some transportation. Any donation above $50 is tax deductible.

We urge you to make your donations as soon as possible since we only have a couple of weeks left before the big day. Please visit this link and click on the "DONATE" button to make your on-line contribution:
