| | | 2007 Federal Dream Act (U.S.)
The DREAM Act was reintroduced in both United States chambers of Congress. On March 1, 2007, Representative Howard Berman of California introduced the American Dream Act (H.R. 1275) in the House of Representatives. The bill was referred to the Judiciary Committee as well as the Education and Labor Committee. On March 6, 2007, Senator Richard Durbin of Illinois introduced the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act of 2007b (S. 774) in the Senate. The bill was referred to the Judiciary Committee. The two Acts would allow some undocumented students to be eligible for temporary legal status upon high school graduation. After completing two years of higher education or serving for two years in the U.S. military they could apply for normal permanent residency.
